PACIFIC RIM FISHERIES

The Pacific Rim Fisheries Conference series promotes an open forum of fishery issues and programs of the major Pacific Rim nations. The conference promotes an understanding of the respective countries’ fishery practices and international interactions for the betterment of global management and rational use of our living marine resources. This eighth conference is brought farther south into Southeast Asia to facilitate participation of government, industry, science, and academic representatives from the North Pacific and Southeast Asian countries to bridge discussions about critical fisheries issues, marketing developments, and common calamities that threaten our fishery resources and their marine ecosystems.

The conference series was initiated in 1989 through the cooperative efforts of its founding member countries: Canada, Japan, the Peoples’ Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, an active participant in the series since 1994, welcomes you to Hanoi for the Eighth Pacific Rim Fisheries Conference.
